Whatever industry you’re working in your business has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and its ripple effects. A lot of people have turned to digital efforts to try and keep their business relevant during this time.
But as your turn to digital channels, your competition is doing the same. While getting ahead of the pack can seem like an uphill struggle, by leveraging the power of digital the right way, you’ll be able to cut through the noise and grow your business.
With 10.67 million active internet users in Uganda as of January 2020 (Who is to say this number hasn’t increased because of the pandemic lock-down). This provides a wide range of potential customers.
Digital technologies continue to evolve there are more and more platforms and mediums today giving businesses more opportunities to engage with their customers on a personal level. By creating initiatives around the different aspects of digital, you stand a chance to boost brand awareness and grow your business.
So, how do you harness the power of Digital to engage and convert your customers?
Align your marketing efforts.
If you want to see success in your digital marketing efforts then they need to align with your overall business goals and objectives. Everything you do in digital should be geared towards helping you achieve your business goals and objectives to foster business growth.
With your goals and objectives in mind, you will be able to pick the right digital channels that will have the right impact on our business. you might decide to drill into your email marketing communications and your twitter account, as opposed to spreading your efforts across several social media platforms, third-party eCommerce sites, and landing pages.
One thing you should note is that digital isn’t fixed so your choices will change as your business grows. Always get our eye and your overall business goals and objectives, let them be your driving force and you’ll be able to generate a focused buzz, potentially enticing droves of new prospects to your brand
Establish a presence on the right social media channels
Depending on the nature and goals of your business, different social media channels will appeal to different audiences.
Facebook is still a tried and tested market leader and Instagram is enjoying exponential growth, with its visual nature appealing to younger generations. And, then there’s Twitter that is great for having conversations with your audience and finding out their needs giving you a chance to meet them.
To make an informed decision on which social media channels are most suitable for your business, take time to do research, and create buyer personas to help you understand your audience on a deeper level. You could also look at what your competition is doing (one of the perks of digital marketing is you spy on your competition *wink*) what platforms are they on? What kind of content are they serving their audience? By looking at this, you will get a general idea of what direction to take.
Get into Email marketing.
Email marketing is what I like to call the “black sheep” of digital marketing, most marketers and businesses don’t think it works and is a dead or dying medium. But contrary to popular belief, email marketing is alive and well it is A golden asset to any budding SME, email, if used effectively, has the power to engage and influence consumers in a big way.
Unlike some digital channels, people check their Emails every day unless they are like me who doesn’t check on weekends, but still 5 days out of 7 isn’t bad. So, get into the business of sending emails. There are several Email marketing services of there you just have to look.
To ensure you engage and influence your customers on a meaningful level that is likely to result in a conversion, you should aim to be personal and focus on telling your customers an authentic story with your content.
The possibilities for creating engaging, inspiring marketing campaigns are endless in this day and age. By taking the time to connect with your audience on a deeper and personal level, focusing your efforts and taking a strategic approach to your marketing activities, you will stand out in the crowd.
